Since its beginnings in 2014 the Ultra-Trail® World Tour has gradually expanded to include the most iconic and prestigious ultra-endurance trail running races around the world.
Third race of the Season is TRANSGRANCANARIA HG held in March 04 2020 in Gran Canaria Island.
The main race of the event is the 128 km Classic, with a route from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria to the south of the island and a finish line at The Lighthouse of Maspalomas.
With many events forced to be cancelled or postponed, UTWT 2020 still managed to deliver a roster of iconic and new races, returning after a four month hiatus with the Golden Ring Ultra Trail, Russia - 19/07/2020.
The 6th edition of the Golden Ring Ultra-Trail® successfully took place with more than 4.5 thousand participants in this year’s event, offering athletes distances ranging from 10 to 100km. Given the ongoing health context, unprecedented measures and precautions to ensure and protect the safety of all those involved were put in place.
The course set off from the ancient city of Suzdal, one of the oldest towns in the heart of Russia.
The athletes had to contend with humid and cloudy conditions, with patches of rain and tall grass on the track providing additional challenges along the way.
As the first mass sporting event to take place in the region following the lifting of coronavirus restrictions, this year’s Golden Ring Ultra-Trail® certainly did not disappoint, with brilliant record performances from local athletes marking an exciting return to trail running.
