The Taiwan KOM Challenge has rapidly gained status in recent years as one of the toughest one day cycling events in the world. The riders are taken on a relentless climb for nearly its entire route of 105km, starting at the beachfront close to Hualien on the East coast of Taiwan and culminating on the Wuling Pass at an altitude of 3275m. Pro riders and keen amateurs all begin this unique race together and it comes as no surprise that it makes so many bucket lists. In the 2019 edition Marianne Vos, regarded as the finest cyclist of her generation, took on the challenging climb and a chance to enjoy the stunning views on the way to the top of Mount Wuling.
