After postponing the 20th edition in 2020, the Generali Milano Marathon Special Edition 2021 finally took place on May 16th 2021.
In this special edition 2021 dedicated to top runners, the 42.195 meters was developed on a fast circuit of 7.5 km, repeated 5 times, with a first round of 4,965 meters, and the hub on Piazza del Cannone, in front of the fantastic Castello Sforzesco, in the heart of Milan.
The race was reserved to élite runners, invited by organizers and fast amateurs with a personal best under 2h45’, with a maximum of 120 participants.
The race saw the best time trial of the year worldwide and the best time trial ever on the Italian soil both in the Men’s and Women’s Races: Milan enters the legend and confirms itself as the Italian capital city of running with an international event. It is the fastest marathon in Italy: no one has ever run as fast, neither in Italy or worldwide this year.
This year Milano Marathon turned out to be a competition that allowed top athletes to rewrite records on Italian soil.
Milan represents one of the few opportunities this Spring for top runners to reach the goal of the minimum olympic qualifying time.
