As tough as it is scenic, this long-distance course takes competitors on a testing route through New Zealand’s Southern Alps. The event always attracts a strong international field in both the women’s and men’s pro races. In 2018 the women’s race is contested by Australian Annabel Luxford and Britain’s Laura Siddall, runner-up at Challenge Roth 2017. Defending champion Dougal Alan is also up against some star challengers including Javier Gomez.
